Welcome back to Max Effort Muscle Supersets!
This week we're back in the CoryG archives. Throwing a bit of a unconventional superset in the mix this week - how to properly use a weightlifting belt.
People get this wrong ALL THE TIME.
What are they doing wrong?
- Not going tight enough
- They aren't breathing right
- They have no idea how to activate/brace their core
Here are CoryG's tips for using a weightlifting belt properly...
No.1 - Get the position right
Position the belt right over the belly button
No.2 - Secure the belt
Use a post to get more leverage to get the belt tightly secured
No.3 - Push your abs into the belt hard
This will help you understand what "activation" means. Not only will this activate your abs, but it will activate your lower back as well.
You should feel like your belly is spilling over the top of the belt. Properly bracing is especially important in the meaty phase of the lift because it's protecting your spine!
Give this a go next time you're hitting your squats, deadlifts and bench press!
