A sewing machine is on time when it catches the loop thread not so fast nor too delayed.
If a machine is not on time (delays) cause jamming of thread beneath, harsh sound due to the upper tension is pressed too much to acquire a balanced lockstitching.
If the machine catches the loop (too fast) causes that upper thread would be too loose despite of pressing the upper tension.
Experts advise the 'thread loop catching' should be done when the needle has ascended 2 to 2.5 mm from lower dead point upwards.
If it is adjusted more than 3 mm the machine would be delayed in time setting.
If adjusted less than 2 mm the machine would be fast in time setting.
