In this video I return to a location I have photographed before to see if I can get some images in different light, and discuss the importance of revisiting a location so you can learn to get the timing right to capture that perfect photograph.
It is very easy when we visit a location to rush around and hunt for a composition, if we don’t find anything, we leave and may never return again. That doesn’t mean to say that there is not an image to be had there however. The images I capture that I am most pleased with are almost always from locations that I have been to time and time again. Visiting a place several times makes you more familiar with the surroundings, the features, and the nuances of light that all work together to make a great image. One visit is rarely enough, and unless you spend an entire day there and happen to experience all weathers and conditions, you won’t have seen anywhere near all of what that location has to offer a photographer.
We can all get lucky of course, and we get to a location and everything is working in harmony to allow us to capture that one great image, but how do we know that the next time we visit that we won’t be treated to an even more perfect display?
On this outing will I get a better image than I had done on my previous visit?
