This easy tutorial demonstrates how to knit the double slip stitch rib, which is only a 2-row repeat. It's not 'real' ribbing as it doesn't consist of alternating knits and purls on each side...in fact there are no purl stitches involved at all!

The resulting pattern is not as stretchy as regular ribbing, and more stable i.e. it lies flat rather than bunches up. It just gives the effect of ribbing, but in my opinion the slip stitches make it prettier :) It's also nice and squishy.
