This knitting lesson will demonstrate how to knit bobbles in stockinette stitch, by increasing 1 stitch to 3 stitches (kfbf), purling back across these stitches, then decreasing back down to 1 stitch again (s2kpo).
This is the typical way to make a bobble, and you can adjust the technique to make smaller or larger bobbles; the concept of increasing, purling, then decreasing remains the same.
For smaller bobbles, you can do a kfb increase, turn, purl back across these 2 stitches, turn, then do a k2tog decrease to get back down to 1 stitch.
For larger bobbles, you would increase by 3, 4 or 5 stitches in one go, turn, purl across, *turn, then decrease by back down to 1 stitch.

This is the pattern I was following in the video:
Cast on a multiple of 5 + 4. I cast on 19.
I did a few rows of knit stitches for the garter stitch border to begin with, then:
Row 1) (RS) k4, *bobble, k4
Row 2) k4, p, k4
Row 3) k
Row 4) = Row 2)
Row 5) k4, *k2, bobble, k2
Repeat from * until 4 stitches left, then k4
Row 6) = Row 2)
Row 7) k
Row 8) = Row 2
Bobble = kfbf, turn, p3, turn, s2kpo.
(S2kpo is a centred double decrease. Slip 2 stitches knitwise (together), knit 1, psso.)
It can be a bit awkward to turn your work because the working yarn can easily get wrapped around the needles, and you may also have quite a lot of knitting on your needles. I have another video about knitting bobbles where you don’t need to turn the work, so you might prefer that if you find this fiddly:
