How to Fix a HomePod mini Stuck on "Configuring"
If your HomePod mini stays on "Configuring" during setup and never finishes, it is usually caused by a Wi-Fi issue, Apple ID problem, outdated software, or a setup glitch. Try these fixes.
1. Wait a Little Longer First
After setup, a HomePod mini may stay on Configuring for several minutes while it:
Connects to Wi-Fi
Syncs your Apple ID
Downloads settings
Updates software
Leave it plugged in for 10–15 minutes before interrupting it.
2. Restart Your HomePod mini
Open the Home app on your iPhone.
Press and hold the HomePod mini.
Scroll down.
Tap Reset HomePod.
Choose Restart HomePod.
If it is frozen:
Unplug the HomePod mini.
Wait 10 seconds.
Plug it back in.
Try setup again.
3. Restart Your iPhone
Your iPhone controls much of the HomePod setup process.
Turn your iPhone off.
Turn it back on.
Make sure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled.
Try adding the HomePod again.
4. Check Wi-Fi Connection
Make sure:
iPhone and HomePod are on the same Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi password is correct
You are not using guest Wi-Fi
Your router has internet access
If you recently changed your Wi-Fi password, the HomePod may need to be reset.
5. Update Your iPhone
An older iOS version can prevent setup.
Go to:
Settings → General → Software Update
Install any available update, then try configuring the HomePod again.
6. Remove the HomePod and Set It Up Again
If it is stuck:
Open the Home app.
Press and hold the HomePod mini.
Tap Reset HomePod.
Select Remove Accessory.
Restart your iPhone.
Hold your iPhone near the HomePod mini and set it up again.
7. Factory Reset the HomePod mini
If nothing works:
Unplug the HomePod mini.
Wait 10 seconds.
Plug it back in.
Wait 10 seconds.
Place your finger on the top.
Hold until the light turns red.
Continue holding until you hear three beeps.
Release your finger.
Then try the setup again. #homepodmini
