MOFI Router SIM Card NOT Detected Fix (SIM Not Recognized, No Service, LTE Not Working, MOFI4500)
If your MOFI router says “SIM Not Detected,” “No SIM,” or will not connect to LTE internet, try these troubleshooting steps in order:
Power OFF the Router
Unplug the MOFI router completely before removing or inserting the SIM card. Inserting a SIM while powered on can sometimes prevent detection.
Remove and Reinsert the SIM Card
Take the SIM card out carefully and reinstall it:
Make sure the gold contacts face the correct direction
Push it in fully until it clicks or seats properly
Check for dust or bent contacts
Verify SIM Card Orientation
Many MOFI models use a mini-SIM or micro-SIM adapter. If the SIM is upside down or backward, the router will not detect it.
Test the SIM Card in a Phone
Put the SIM card into a compatible unlocked phone:
If the phone also cannot detect the SIM, the SIM may be bad or deactivated
If the phone works, the router settings or SIM slot may be the issue
Check for a Disabled or Inactive SIM
Some cellular carriers disable SIM cards after:
Long inactivity
Account suspension
Device changes
Exceeding data limits
Log into your carrier account or contact support.
Restart the Router
After reinserting the SIM:
Plug the router back in
Wait several minutes for LTE initialization
Some MOFI routers take longer to recognize a SIM after booting
Inspect the SIM Slot
Use a flashlight to check for:
Bent pins
Dirt or debris
Damaged contacts
A damaged SIM slot is common if SIM cards were inserted forcefully.
Update APN Settings
Even if the SIM is detected, incorrect APN settings can prevent internet connection.
Common path:
Login to router admin panel
Network → Modem → APN settings
Enter the APN required by your cellular carrier.
Factory Reset the MOFI Router
If settings became corrupted:
Hold RESET button for about 10–15 seconds
Wait for reboot
Reconfigure the router
Try Another SIM Card
Testing a different active SIM card helps determine whether:
The original SIM failed
The router modem failed
The SIM slot is defective
Check if the Modem Is Loose (Advanced)
Some MOFI models have removable LTE modem cards internally. If comfortable:
Disconnect power
Open the unit
Carefully reseat the LTE modem
Only do this if out of warranty and experienced with electronics.
Possible Hardware Failure
If no SIM cards work:
LTE modem may have failed
SIM slot may be damaged
Router motherboard may have issues
At that point, repair or replacement may be needed.
