About this video: Distant Horizons lets you see much farther in Minecraft without rendering every distant chunk at full detail. It does this using a level of detail system that keeps nearby terrain looking normal while simplifying terrain farther away. In this video, we show you how to download and install Distant Horizons in Minecraft using Fabric and the Fabric API.
To get started, you will need to download Distant Horizons. On the mod’s official download page, find the version that matches your version of Minecraft and select the Fabric release. Make sure you download the correct file because mods made for other Minecraft versions or mod loaders will not work.
We also need the Fabric API. Just like Distant Horizons, download the Fabric version that matches the Minecraft version you are playing. The Fabric API is a dependency mod that helps Distant Horizons work correctly.
Next, it’s time to download and install the Fabric mod loader. Open the Fabric Installer, select your Minecraft version, make sure the Create Profile option is checked, and click Install. You should close Minecraft and the Minecraft Launcher before installing Fabric to prevent any issues.
After Fabric is installed, open the Minecraft Launcher and go to the Installations tab. Find your Fabric installation, hover over it, and click the folder icon. This will open your Minecraft folder. From here, open the mods folder or create a new folder named “mods” if you do not already have one.
