Yes, videos are big, important projects. But that’s the very reason you need to delegate them. As the communication director, you have so much on your plate, you can’t give a video the attention it needs.
So pick a staff member that you trust to be your video manager. They don’t need to have any background in video or social media. There are just a few things that they will need to know from you to create successful videos.
1. They need to clearly know the goals of your department.
2. Write a few measurable guidelines to define the success of your videos.
3. Give them a budget. If you do want your video manager to create the video themselves as a DIY project, give them the time and budget to train themselves. If you want them to hire a professional, however, you can skip all training and simply tell them to find a pro who is willing and able to walk them through the process.
4. Next, let your video manager know if you have any ideas or things that you would like to be in the video.
