In this video, I show how to store a cutscene timer that can end in another file immediately. In particular, I store the Sprout timer, which will crash the game when it ends if no Pikmin sprouts are in the field, as shown here: youtube.com/watch?v=UVzJXxUOFHc

Normally, when a cutscene timer ends, its respective cutscene plays. However, if I'm underground, then when a timer ends, the cutscene does NOT play, but the timer remains stuck at '0'. And once I'm aboveground again, the cutscene plays immediately.
Now the question is: how can I end the day to perform Cutscene Timer Storage if the timer ends before I can pause, end the day and store it to a different file? The answer is that I need to end the day another way. In particular, I end the day with a Pikmin extinction, which occurs before the timer ends. Note that there are other ways to end the day, such as by killing both captains or collecting Spherical Atlas.
So I store the Sprout cutscene timer to a file where I'm underground with only 1 living Pikmin. Then, after I'm sure that the timer is at '0,' then I kill that Pikmin (sadly), and once I'm aboveground, the day ends from a Pikmin Extinction. You may be surprised that the Onions don't produce a sprout, even though I have 0 reds and 0 blues. However, this doesn't happen after a cave extinction, for some reason. Thus, I can store the Sprout timer while it's at '0' seconds.
Using this, I can start a new file and crash Pikmin 2 in just 49.8 seconds. Previously, I crashed Pikmin 2 in 50.58 seconds using a different method involving Cutscene Timer Storage: youtube.com/watch?v=ISuveFb3KNQ
