The repository mirror is where the operating systems package manager checks for new packages and downloads them.
By default Raspbian and Raspberry Pi OS make use of something called the Raspbian mirror director. This director is designed to check where you are connecting from and direct you to the closest server.
However, there are cases where the mirror director will make you download from an incredibly slow network. It can also link you to a mirror that is suffering issues and is providing corrupted packages.
To solve this issue, you can modify the operating systems package manager to point to a mirror of your choosing.
By doing this, it will allow you to find the fastest and most stable mirror for your location.
