Salvation Army architect Michaela Jones was told it couldn't be done, net-zero was too expensive. But just before issuing contracts for a code-built 175-unit complex they redesigned and reissued the RFP as net-zero ready. The result is going to save the Salvation Army $6 million dollars in operating costs. This is the story of what they did at Grace Village and why the result sets a precedent for all mid-sized buildings.
