How did Max Rebo survive the sail barge explosion? The book From a Certain Point of View Return of the Jedi tells us he ran to the top of the deck when all the fighting broke out, and when the barge exploded he was thrown over the side. Sy Snootles, Droopy McCool, and Joh Yowza of the Max Rebo Band also survived, but they seem to have parted ways after the near death experience. And of course Max goes on to perform at the Sanctuary, which also winds up exploding.
