What did Mandalore and Sundari used to look like? Thousands of years before the events of The Mandalorian, Mandalore was a beautiful, green planet. But when the Mandalorian people settled there, they brought war with them. Generations of conflict concluded with war against the Republic and the Jedi, which saw the forests and jungles of Mandalore destroyed, leaving behind desolation. Mandalorians were forced to build domed cities to survive, and that’s how the planet appeared during the time of the Republic, the Clone Wars, and the reign of the Empire. During the Great Purge of Mandalore, the cities and the surface were bombed, turning the sand and ruins into rocky glass. But as The Mandalorian’s third season shows us, hope remains for Mandalore to recover.
