There's a lot to learn from devoted teachers who prioritize a hands on a approach to instruction. Eric Wheeler at Middleton High School is helping his students to get ahead in his Engineering and Technology classes. Access to 20 Tormach mills, routers and lathes helps as well. These machines were possible by the community and local business support in a recent city referendum. Middleton High School was able to purchase more Tormach's per student because of our business model of keeping the price of entry low. Instead of tying up one industrial VMC with one student, multiple students can be working side-by-side on multiple easy to use Tormach's. The ease of use is due to the user-friendly PathPilot control system. Students can choose to setup their projects in conversational mode or to bring in their g-code from a CAD/CAM program.

Mr. Wheeler is also confident he can let his students loose on the Tormach machines, as each have safety latches that stop the machine if the access doors are opened. Safety is a priority when allowing students to run CNC machines.

Middleton's Racing program gives these students an exciting unified goal by being one of the best teams in the area. Building a high performance race car to compete with 15 other schools in the area has given many students the drive to further their career in manufacturing, engineering and formula one racing.

The enthusiasm Eric Wheeler's students can't contain makes him one of our Tormach Tech Ed Heroes.
