The NSF-funded HAMMER Research Center at Ohio State University was at IMTS Chicago to introduce the Agility Forge, a groundbreaking hybrid manufacturing system that combines robotic blacksmithing and traditional forging processes. Developed using off-the-shelf components, including Tormach's 1100M CNC mill, this prototype enables rapid open-die forging and in-process scanning for real-time feedback and precision. The project aims to revolutionize manufacturing by eliminating the need for expensive closed-die setups, allowing for faster production of custom parts.
