Sometimes when I'm feeding the horses we rescued from slaughter, I sing to them. On this night, the lyrics of the song I sang really struck a chord, given where these horses came from. Horses get to Swingin' D Horse Rescue by the grace of God. Tonight I realized how perfect the lyrics to Amazing Grace are for their situations.
Horses go through hell before they arrive, and it's only through the grace of God and the kindness of donors that they're saved from slaughter and brought to us. Once they arrive, they slowly begin to trust humans again. they put on weight, get back their health, relearn the skills they forgot, and find their soul humans.
Every time we wonder how we're going to continue to save and rehabilitate horses, God surprises us with some gift that keeps us afloat. Will you be the next surprise? We're a 501c3, so your donations of money, land, farm equipment and other items are tax deductible.
I used to be a pretty good singer. I'm not anymore, but the horses seem to appreciate it!
