Tami Marler, MBA was a Miss Oklahoma, an investigative journalist and news anchor before learning about horse slaughter in America. She and her husband, Danny, an investigator with a local sheriff's department in Oklahoma, started a 501C3 horse rescue where they've so far saved nearly two dozen horses and mules.
Every day is an adventure, as Tami makes the transition from city businesswoman to ranch hand, and lets go of the appearance-centric values that bound her through pageants, as a professional cheerleader and on the air. (It's hard to focus on your looks when you're mucking manure and slogging and sweating through an Oklahoma summer!)
