Unbeknownst to us until much later, he had a broken tailbone, which led to a serious infection that nearly cost him his tail. How do you wash, medicate and wrap the tattered tail of a horse that won't let you near him? We figured it out, and spent an hour a day, every day for over a year, tending his wounds and fighting to save his life.
