We're finally at one of the more relaxed songs of the album, a track that almost demands an acoustic treatment! I was inspired by a lot of older covers, including Josiah Everhart's (youtube.com/watch?v=HjeAL3qIBxQ) to include a more homey, minimized instrumentation! Along with the acoustic playing that matches the original, I threw in a more original riff to help transition to the solo sections and this is my only drumming credit on the album too! I took a lot from older country and light-rock groups to get a nice brush sound. Of course the secret sauce was to have strings on, and Tera was the perfect person to play these complementary lines and drive the melody too!
Violins and guitars work really well in unison, and I really enjoyed having Tera on a track that's almost in line with her own arranging stylistically! She even matched a few of my improvised guitar licks, which was kind of cool for its own reasons. I think the first quarter of the album really benefits from having just a few guests, fairly faithful tracks, and a lot of the same warmth that the game has early on. While Toriel, our game's personified tutorial, means well to take care of the player early on you can tell that there's a bit of sorrow going on. Since I'm not too good with slower videos I tried my best to quickly illustrate a cozy home Toriel makes for you.. that she doesn't intend for you to leave.
