Director DAMIAN McCARTHY and ADAM SCOTT sit down for an interview to discuss the new nightmare known as HOKUM.
#HOKUM is a new supernatural horror film where we find reclusive American author Ohm Bauman (Adam Scott) travelling to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents' ashes. While there, he becomes fixated on local lore concerning an ancient witch said to haunt the hotel's honeymoon suite. After a staff member goes missing, Ohm is drawn into a nightmarish mystery that forces him to confront disturbing visions and the darkest trauma of his own past. Directed by Damian McCarthy, the film is noted for its slow-burn atmosphere and explores themes of grief and redemption.
The cast of Hokum is led by Adam Scott in a departure from his more sympathetic roles in Parks and Recreation or Severance. He is joined by a strong ensemble of established Irish and American actors, including Peter Coonan as the enigmatic desk clerk Mal, David Wilmot as Jerry, and Will O'Connell as the hapless bellhop Alby. The film also features Austin Amelio in a unique role as "The Conquistador," a character tied to the protagonist's book series, along with Florence Ordesh as Fiona, Michael Patric as Fergal, and Sioux Carroll as the haunting Witch.
