What is the difference between these foot strikes?
Many people assume that runners who rearfoot strike, are also overstriding.
These are 2 different things.
Foot strike pattern refers to which part of the foot first makes contact with the ground.
Both scenarios present with a rearfoot strike.
Over Striding has to do with foot positioning relative to the body.
If the foot lands farther ahead of the body, this put more stress on the leg as a whole.
While your foot strike pattern can influence how forces are distributed, your foot positioning can influence the overall amount of stresses on the leg.
The main point of the video is that people incorrectly think certain people are over striding, when they really are not.
