Following the tragic events at the Islamic Center of San Diego, many within our Muslim community have been carrying grief, fear, anxiety, and uncertainty.
In response, Maristan, alongside Noor Kids, Sukoon, CAIR California, and AMALY, hosted a special virtual Healing Circle titled *“Healing Together: Responding to the San Diego Tragedy.”*
This important community conversation brought together mental health professionals, spiritual care leaders, and community voices to discuss how we can process grief, support our families, and navigate fear and uncertainty through faith, compassion, and community care.
Speakers included:
• Dr. Rania Awaad, MD — Maristan
• Sr. Sakeena Mirza, LCSW — Sukoon
• Br. Amin Aaser — Noor Kids
• Sr. Tazheen Nizam — CAIR California
• Halima Said, LPCC — AMALY
We pray this discussion benefits those seeking support, healing, and reflection during difficult times.
May Allah grant healing, comfort, protection, and strength to all those affected.

![Do we really know what our mothers go through?
🌷Mothers hold an immense rank in Islam. The Prophet ﷺ even said jannah is beneath their feet.
Surah Luqman verse 31:14 demonstrates how our mothers endure “hardship after hardship.” This includes the difficulties of childbearing, and the numerous challenges many face after the pain of child birth such as postpartum depression, anxiety, isolation, and hormonal changes.
These are often struggles that many new mothers face alone and it can take an immense toll on their sense of self and how they engage with the world.
Have mercy on your mothers, forgive them, and make du’a for them this Friday, on a blessed day where good deeds are multiplied and prayers are accepted.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Friday is twelve hours in which there is no Muslim slave who asks Allah ﷻ for something but He will give it to him, so seek it in the last hour after Asr.
