Big news for my frame rate and resolution tests. HDR analysis is coming to my custom tool, and this video explains what that means and what you can expect from it going forward.
A look at the upcoming HDR analysis feature for my frame rate testing.
My tool already measures real frame rate by detecting duplicate frames, frame time, 1% and 0.1% lows, native resolution and perceptual sharpness through a rolling Detail line. HDR analysis is the next major addition, letting me properly measure and present the HDR performance of games alongside all of that existing data, adding another meaningful layer to how thoroughly I can break down a game's presentation on Nintendo Switch 2 and beyond.
In this video I talk through why I wanted to add HDR analysis, what it will actually show, and how it will slot into the frame rate and resolution tests you already watch on the channel. With more and more Switch 2 games supporting HDR, and HDR being a genuine part of how a game looks and feels, it made sense to bring it into the testing properly rather than just mentioning it in passing.
Whether you are here for the technical deep dives, the Switch 2 frame rate tests, or you are just curious about how the tool keeps growing, this is a look at what's coming next. Let me know in the comments what you'd like to see from the HDR analysis. Subscribe so you don't miss the first tests using it.
