Stitch Markers, Tapestry Needle

Gauge:
16 sts = 4"; 24 rows = 4" in seed st.

Special Stitch:
S2KP2 = slip 2 sts at once, knitwise, K1, pass both slipped sts over and off needle ( 2st decrease )

Lace Pattern: Multiples of 8 sts + 1 st

Seed Stitch: (use odd number of sts to have the same repeat on either side)
Row 1: K1, *P1, K1; rep from * across.
Repeat Row 1 for Seed Stitch pattern.

Instructions:

Scarf:
Cast on 211 sts
Work Seed Stitch for 11 Rows. Mark 2nd Row as right side with safety pin or removable stitch marker.

Place markers after the first 5 sts and before last 5 sts. Keep first and last 5 sts in seed stitch throughout the whole project.

* Work Rows 1 through 6 of Lace Pattern and 10 Rows of Seed St; rep from * once more, bind off all stitches.

Hood:
Fold scarf in half and mark center fold of scarf. Measure 10" from each side of center point. Working on the right side of your work, pick up 91 sts evenly between markers.

Between my markers I had 69 sts. I needed to add 22 sts to get my 91. Every third st I increased 1.

Work 11 Rows of Seed St. Place markers after the first 5 sts and before last 5 sts. Keep first and last 5 sts in seed stitch throughout the whole project.

* Work Rows 1 through 6 of Lace Pattern and 10 Rows of Seed St; rep from * three times total.

Sewing Hood: (using three needle bind off)
Fold hood wrong side facing out and use three needle bind off method to close top of hood.
If not using this method, bind off all stitches as normal and sew up seam.
