The tool above is an ace with 420, 3cr13 (.3% carbon and chromium 13%), and 440A steel blades. It does change the edge effectively. This blade is 420.
On the blade metal, know that 440A or 3cr13 is normally STAMPED at the bottom. It gives the knife more value. 420 steel is rarely ever advertised.
Here is thoughtful video by knife veteran. He varifies dull edge. He does baton wood, but is careful. The knife does pretty well, and he does NO MODS. But his tests show where the Gordon starts to break down.
