Handling a deadly rattlesnake… would you be brave enough to do this?
Our team in Costa Rica has been learning how to safely and humanely handle snakes, including venomous ones like rattlesnakes! The training was led by Ryan Bombard, Director of Refugio Animal, who is officially certified by the Clodomiro Picado Institute in humane snake handling.
This workshop was all about making sure our veterinary team knows exactly what to do when snakes show up during wildlife rescues. It’s not just about safety for our team, but also about protecting the snakes themselves.
Last year alone, we responded to 257 wildlife emergencies across Nosara. Many of those animals were brought to us at International Animal Rescue Costa Rica for care, rehabilitation, and release back to the wild.
