Hand drill fire by friction method using Coconut Palm fireboard and Horseweed stalk spindle.
It was dusk so the video is a bit dark, but I figured the ember would be easy to see.
This one was interesting because the drill hole in the fireboard was drifting off the edge. I had to put a good angle on the spindle to keep it going and get to critical temperature.
I'm getting pretty good at this as I'm successful most of the time now. I'm also getting better at adjusting/ recovering when it doesn't always go perfectly. Although, I'm still taking more than a minute to get my embers. I think a lot has to do with the tropical environment I'm in (high humidity in Florida).
The goal was just to get the coal.
