Friction Fire Tuesday - Weekly practice (from Bushcraftusa.com web forum)

New Dogfennel spindle, slightly fire-hardened (a few days ago) and a fresh Sabal Palm fireboard. I used a Pine Needle tinder bundle. The needles were brittle and needed some finesse to blow it to flame. It took a good minute or so to get flame.

My hands are pretty well conditioned now (toughened up). Took about a month or so to get 'em used to the hand drill method.
