Guillow Cessna 170 RC Conversion
This video will discuss the conversion of a Guillow Cessna 170 to radio control flight. As part of the demonstration I will use the electronics and motor of the Volantex Fw-190 ready to fly model airplane. Link to this kit review is below.
All Guillows kits build in a similar fashion with balsa formers and ribs with various spars. The C-170 is laser cut wood with a very good quality to the balsa in the kit.
The directions are quite clear in the Guillows kit. I decided to use a single piece wing glued onto the fuselage top with three channels of control for elevator, rudder and throttle.
The Guillows Cessna 170 flies very well. The motor offers plenty of thrust. The model weight came in at around 3.4 ounces which is good for a Guillows kit.
The model was a bit tail heavy after the first flight. I am leaning more and more to making these smaller models a bit nose heavy for the first flight as this will make the model a bit more stable.
