Grand Teton National Park has a hidden location. This Park Travel Short is about Laurance S Rockefeller Preserve. Have you heard of it? We visited in 2018. This preserve is 1100 acres and is part of the history of John D Rockefeller in Grand Teton National Park. This used to be known as JY Ranch. This section of that land was transferred to the National Park Service in 2007 by John's son, Laurance S Rockefeller. While we were there, we hiked the Phelps Lake Loop Trail.
Form the Park's website: The Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve provides a special opportunity to connect with nature in an environment designed to reduce congestion and provide an opportunity for solitude and reflection.
Several trails can be accessed from the Preserve and Moose-Wilson Road. Take an easy hike to Phelps Lake or enjoy a strenuous trek into Granite or Death Canyon.
