This is installment #4 of this series, POST 2015/2016 El Nino season - GOES weather satellite infra-red still image time lapse sequences. It's interesting to note how the color around southern California remains black (very dry) during nearly all of the the two month time period.
Over 2000 still images were collected every 20 minutes for 2-months to make this video. Time lapse sequence made from original Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) still images, courtesy of NOAA.GOV (public domain data). This view shows the northern hemisphere (United States) in an infra-red wavelength that is sensitive to water vapor in Earth's atmosphere (light areas are moist and dark is more dry) which is good for showing where storms/rain may be more likely as well as being visible in both day and night.
