These sequences were filmed from Santa Clarita, CA and show a particularly active thunderstorm which formed over the Antelope Valley on the evening of September 9th, 2017. This storm put on quite a show, capturing a lot of local attention and even made the local news. It lasted for a couple of hours after dusk, then faded out into the night.
In the first few sequences (right side of the frame) you can see the green and red lights of a drone flying around in the scene. Apparently someone was trying to capture an aerial view of the storm! The later scenes were filmed from a lical hilltop, providing a better view of the storm and a nice overview of the city, although the city lights tended to haze-up the overall image.
