GMD F59PH locomotives are still running strong on the GO Transit system! Originally designed by General Motors Diesel (GMD) out of London, Ontario in the late 1980's, 49 of these units were built for GO Transit between 1988 and 1994. Today, only eight locomotives are left (557-564), with the others being sold to various other railroad agencies in North America. With over 35+ years of service on GO, and rebuilding/new F59PH acquisitions underway, it seems like these locomotives will continue to be seen for the next many years.

In this video, we will see some of the GMD F59PH's in action on the Barrie, Kitchener, and Lakeshore West lines throughout 2025. All train info and locations listed in chapters.
