Running along the Bay Peninsula between San Jose and San Fransisco, is the CalTrain. This busy commuter railroad was once a Southern Pacific operation, and has a history unlike any other modern-day commuter railroad operation in California. Recently, an ambitious electrification project has gained full speed, converting the diesel railroad into an electric one. The line is quickly changing; and with catenary going up, the line looks similar to a West Coast version of the Northeast Corridor! Therefore, the classic diesel F40PH locomotives will be most likely retired once the new electric consists arrive.
In this video, you'll see some rush hour CalTrain action in the San Jose area of the line, specifically focused at the College Park CalTrain station. This quietly used station offers a classic lookback of the former Southern Pacific station style and operation of the line.
