There are two methods to duplicate the cannonball in Galleon. The second one involves skew walk.

Wet Storage method:

Put the cannonball near the ledge of the gangplank, then drop into the water. Jump when the surface is at the lowest point of its oscillation and press B to pick up the cannonball. If done correctly, you will submerge before the picking up animation ends and the cannonball will be stored in the water. This is a little tricky so it might take you several tries to pull off. Now get out of the cannon room and start loading new areas. The fastest way to do so is to walk back and forth between two areas. The cannonball will be duplicated over and over again and make the game lag badly.

Dry Storage method:

You need to get skew walk first. Using Diddy is by far the easiest way to get it since he has the best balance between size and jump height. Swim through the wall in the tunnel leading to the cannon room; about where the right switch is. Be careful not to swim too far out of bounds or you will be warped back to the DK portal. Surface, jump and land next to where the water ends. Pull out your gun and walk back into the water. You will want to trigger a dive animation. If you instantly get to the surface, Diddy will put away his gun. (This is why it's easier with a small kong.) Once you have your gun out underwater, dive out of the real water into the fake water. Make Diddy look up by holding down, then press C-up twice. Put away your gun and backflip back in bounds. (This is why it's easier with a kong that can jump high.) Doing a regular jump (roll jumps with DK, cartwheel jumps with Diddy, and jumping while holding a gun or an object don't count as such), falling into water or playing your instrument will reset your angle, so be careful not to do any of this. Tag Chunky and walk around the cannon room to the cannonball, pick it up and leave the room. Head toward the lighthouse area and go to Snide's H.Q. while out of bounds. If the cannonball disappears, turn around and it will return to Chunky. Go to the area behind the huge gate and turn the camera around, but be careful not to actually enter that area. When the cannonball vanishes, go all the way back to the tunnels and head toward where Chunky's treasure chests are located. Get out of bounds between the room with the chests and the tunnel that leads back out of it. Find the spot where the two areas are connected and change the camera to reload them alternately. This will do the same as the wet storage method, except you can safely enter the cannon room without freezing the game.

The last three clips show how to combine both methods, and why it is rather tricky.
