Operation Market Garden – Roughly half of the British 1st Airborne Division who fought in the Battle of Arnhem were paratroopers, the remaining troops landed in gliders. These British gliders were flown by crews of Glider Pilots. Once these glider pilots landed their aircraft they fought with the troops this included the defense of the Oosterbeek perimeter. A memorial to the Glider Pilots was unveiled in Wolfheze in 2019.
