David Bradley performed Geppetto so well, bringing so much more life and emotion into the character compared to past iterations. His theme is fittingly soft and gentle, starting with two two note phrases that swell into a lush lullaby melody of sorts, which makes sense given the song exists in the film as an ode to his beloved son. The song My Son is a heart-rending, beautiful encapsulation of Geppetto's love and reverence for his son that shows the strength of the songwriters and Desplat's compositions. It's later reused for Pinocchio's debut on stage but with new lyrics, but it still remains as Geppetto's thematic identity by the end; perfectly conveying the loving, passionate man he was.
