Arrival to Earth is one of those musical pieces that really transcends the film it was originally from. Any descriptor I could use in this description doesn't really put to words what makes Arrival to Earth such a memorable and distinct piece of music, because I feel like the sheer gravitas of the track says it all. It's majestic, awe-inspiring, heroic, beautiful, and any other adjective that you can find. It's pretty simple and doesn't have much variation, sure, but it has this magic that's just impossible to mimic. You hear it in so many memes and referenced so much in film music discourse but that just shows how powerful and prominent it's impact is. In all honesty, the Transformers scores have always been a mixed bag for me, because despite a lot of the beautiful themes Jablonsky creates, he doesn't really know how to use them. I feel like with 4 onwards he used them much better, at least the new ones, but I've always felt past the first film the themes introduced in that have either been criminally underused or used in odd places. But despite that, whenever Jablonsky struck gold, he struck it beautifully. When the Transformers scores are at their best, the music is something incomparable, music that is so ethereal and alien but still rife with passion and humanity. I could lament about the missed opportunities I believe are there, but at the end of the day the scores to these movies are so inspirational and beloved that it's hard to fault them harshly. And Arrival to Earth for me, as it is for many other people, is the absolute pinnacle of what these scores bring to so many people, and the impact they've had till this day. And that's something quite beautiful.
