Many years back I made a video from when I first added fans to this space. I used what were essentially Agrifans that I'd gotten brand new, and they were awesome and have always served well here. However, when I found these Heat Fans this year, I knew immediately they had to go out here. They're presentable enough to actually showcase, but well-used and far from mint condition, so I don't feel bad putting them in a space where temperature fluctuates and some dust may accumulate. With the repainted parts, actually installing them is one of the safer places they could be to avoid physical damage to those finishes. If I'd had these when I first put fans in, they would've been out here all along. I think Heat Fans are a pretty quintessential garage fan, especially on the residential end of that spectrum. They're a little bit toned-down in terms of typical industrial fan style and bring a crossover kind of look, yet they're still a performance product. I did go with infinite variable speed controls here. These motors generally do pretty well with variable speed and are relatively quiet, the bit of hum in a garage space doesn't bother too much and I really wanted that fine level of tuning. I think they actually sound much louder on the video than in person, but then again I've got the external microphone really picking it up as the main sound and isolating it more, I think. I also like that these sit up nice and close to the ceiling. From ground level, it's a decent ceiling height in here, but from the main entry level, the blades of the previous fans were nearly eye level to me. These just make the ceiling feel higher and the entire area a bit less encumbered. I think the straight blades are also a better performance characteristic to deliver maximum airflow to the best key areas, so overall I'm just really happy with the result. I wish the video looked a little better, unfortunately the lighting out here is just not great for video purposes, so it is what it is.
