"Feed Me" by Fulton Lee

Genre: #indiedance

Tired? Hangry? Still pissed about Bruno Mars’s sweep at the Grammys two years ago, or exhausted from the endless vitriol spewing from our Tweeter-In-Chief, or even miffed about that shitty salad you had for lunch yesterday that still cost $15? I don’t care what time it is; don’t let any of that tether your mood, and catch me today as I’m living this weird lo-fi guitar breakdown over and over again at the 2:40 mark of Fulton Lee’s awesome single, “Feed Me”. It will put out those fires and take you to a paradise at the intersection of chill and self-confidence.

“Feed Me” is about lust. He’s pursuing romance, but not the kind he can really have...yet. “I was thinkin’ bout your man and how you keep him caught up on a line like I keep you around,” the song subtly opens as he contemplates stealing a romance and implicating the man associated with it. He’s really so horny here, begging over and over to be fed while screaming “you might not live without it.” Is he drunk? High? Some words are spat in staccato that renders them indiscernible. It compounds the hunger.

Seventh grade was a tough time out in the world - new school, new state, zero familiar faces. Thank Valhalla that’s when I got my first iPod - nothing could suck my happiness now, ‘cause I could fall back on music when I needed to, anytime, anywhere. “Feed Me” resonates with my sensory memory; the tingles on the back of my neck as I first felt like I didn’t give a shit if someone else was looking. “Feed Me”, with its cocky desperation and attitude serves major “I get what I want” feelings that I was living through my iPod, dancing to that Madonna album that sounded like Abba. It just feels so right.
