There’s a point in which words don’t mean a thing. Lyrics on a track are equivalent to every instrument put into a track and hold meaning but when you realize when it’s what the track sounds like that gives you that feeling, you can appreciate the texture of the sound – organic or electronic – It won't matter because without it there’d be no feeling.
Don’t you love it when minds come together? Here we got producer Nick Moods, better known as Moods, remixing Paul Van Dyke’s "Talk to Em”, off his Technicolor Hi-Fi album. Two years later, Technicolor Hi-Fi Remixes is released with ten reworks of Paul Van Dyke’s jazz inspired instrumentals. As a musician, composer and producer, Dyke’s instrumentals consistently stay in the pocket and are as pleasing, if not better, than the remixes. Personally, I like both versions of Talk to Em, but the remix is way more spacey and with Efe layin’ down the horns, it’s hard not to pass it up on my playlist. Forget Lo-Fi right now, and take in some highs.
I’m still trying to figure out the drum sample taken for the second part of the track. It sounds so familiar yet I can’t make it out; if anyone knows, give a shout! Make some room on your morning playlist ‘cause this one will get you going fersure. You can’t go wrong with playin’ this joint on your way to work. Now time to get this show on the road!
