"Habit" by Still Woozy

I’ve only ever been to Coachella once before--in 2012, when Dr. Dre and Snoop brought out Eminem and holographic Tupac, when Calvin Harris and David Guetta were universally seen as gods, and when Swedish House Mafia was rounding the corner into their final year of performing as a group. Whether it’s because I was only a senior in high school at the time or because times have simply changed, the Coachella experience is bound to be slightly different this year than it was seven years ago.
In one respect, I’m not just looking at the headliners. In fact, I’m looking at the small print. Amongst several other goodies, Still Woozy is tightly nestled at the bottom line of the first day. Having only released six singles starting in 2017, Sven Gamsky has racked up nearly 1.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify. There shouldn’t be too much wonder as to what earned him a spot on one of the most coveted lineups in the industry.
Delving further, if you haven’t heard his single “Habit” yet, I must insist that you stop reading and just listen. From the very first second, the guitar notes glide you into that wavy weekend state of mind. It feels like one of those sticky summer days, drying off on a pool chair for the tenth time, slightly drifting, slightly conscious, relaxed into that in-between state of pure bliss. In subtle harmony, the bass bubbles about as the percussion waxes and wanes between a drum and a typewriter. And, as a writer, I’d be remiss not to mention the incredibly real lyrics that drift along with a buttery voice to match.
Packing up his talents from his house in Oakland, California, Still Woozy’s is about to be one of the better quality sets in Indio Valley this weekend.
