After a 5 day road trip - starting in Oakland and taking us through Sedona and Santa Fe, we've touched down in Austin, Texas - the "Live Music Capital of the World". I couldn't think of a better place to build a music brand than this spot and so, we moved here. Yep, it's motherfuckin' go time.
Feeling pretty blasted while on the road somewhere between Sedona and Santa Fe I decided that doing some curating would wake me up. A few songs in to the session this doozy, "Shifter" by Helsinki producer Yotto, began to ooze from the speakers. It was exactly the jolt of life and focus that I needed.
When you're on the open road for hours at a time, it's easy to lose sight of why exactly you're driving for hours upon end through oftentimes monotonous scenery. Or perhaps the nerves and pressure of this impending move made me want to forget. Either way, Yotto wasn't having it.
The intro synths were a true "Shifter", shape-shifting me into a prize fighter training for the biggest fight of his life. My clarity sharpened. My blood pressure began to rise. The energy in the car became palpable. I felt like I just downed three cups of coffee and/or a half tab of acid. Then as the build starting at the 2:06 mark began I had an aha moment - realizing that my entire life was about to change. Buying a house. Finishing the IVF process. Raising money for RWT. And hopefully building the life of my dreams.
The power of music is incredible in so many ways. To get to build my life around something I love so dearly makes me a fortunate man. LFG!!!!!!!!
