Footpath is the best Apple Watch hiking app I've found for offline maps and navigation that works independent of your iPhone. Download topo maps to your watch, plan routes using the draw-and-snap tool, and follow turn-by-turn directions on the trail. The app auto-routes based on activity type, shows elevation profiles and cue sheets for every turn, and syncs routes from your phone or computer. Footpath Elite (paid) unlocks offline maps and Apple Watch sync. If you want a lightweight navigation setup without carrying your phone, this is it.
