Big Dalton Canyon Trail is a 3.5 mile loop in the foothills near Glendora that works for families and anyone wanting an easy scenic outing. The canyon section follows a shallow creek under dense shade with enough twists and turns to keep kids engaged. For more elevation and views, take Coulter Pine Trail on the return, which climbs above the dam and opens up sightlines to Mt Baldy and the eastern San Gabriels. The trail stays close to suburban LA but feels tucked away. No permit required, accessible year-round, and gentle enough for beginners.
