Day 25
Koholint is gone, but not forgotten.
I walked the island to commit each part of it to memory. Then I stopped at Mabe to say goodbye to Marin. I told her that it was time for me to go home. I didn't explain why. I expected Marin to ask me to visit her again or accept my excuse but...she cried. She said that she was afraid. She knew. I told her that I couldn't condemn her island to be ruled by monsters and I couldn't stay here forever.
Marin understood. She said she wished to the Wind Fish. She wouldn't tell me what she wished, but I think I know what it was. I told Marin to be brave and that I wouldn't forget her.
I left for the egg. It was gigantic! I pulled out the ocarina and played the Ballad of the Wind Fish. The Instruments of the Sirens joined in. When the song was over, the instruments vanished and the egg broke open. The owl appeared and told me that the nightmares plaguing the Wind Fish were inside.
I took one last look at the island and went inside. I could feel the presence of the nightmares. They mocked me with visions of the island and what will happen. I won't let it bother me anymore. Koholint will live on in my memories!
The nightmares used some of those memories against me. They took the form of Agahnim and Ganon. I wasn't afraid of them. I knew they were just illusions. I knew just how to beat them. Then the nightmares took on its true form. It was a giant monster with one eye. It was fast, but I was faster. I was determined to wake up and go home! I will come home!
The nightmares were destroyed. It began to feel warm. I walked up a set of stairs that appeared to lead into the night sky. The owl praised me for my courage and vanished. Then the Wind Fish appeared.
The Wind Fish thanked me for ridding the world of the nightmares. Though he understands that I feel terrible for making Koholint disappear, he told me what I already knew. Koholint will live on in my memories. A wave of water rushed over me and...I was back at sea in the wreckage of my own ship.
I was uninjured. I managed to grab enough of the ship to build a small raft. I sat there for a while...unsure of what will happen to me. Then the Wind Fish appeared. He waited for me to follow him. It took some time, but with the Wind Fish's help, I made it back to Hyrule.
On my way there, I could've sworn I heard Marin singing, but all I saw in the distance was a seagull flying into the horizon.
