Final Fantasy IV: Ultima is a hack by 8-bit fan that aims to present a more expansive version of the classic. New weapons, spells, bosses, and a modified overworld are just a few of the changes on tap.
The latest version of the patch can always be found here:

Version being played: 21.5
Wave 6 is where the boss rush takes off the gloves and gets extremely serious. All that's left is a bunch of optional bosses to go through.
Exited the arena to do some grinding off screen to get everyone to lv99 and pickup a suit of Adamant Armor for those that didn't have one before. I am going to need all of these stat boosts to have a fighting chance with one of the fights in the sixth wave today.
Finally...Palom took a backseat so Edge could rejoin the party. Now that gold isn't an issue because Pink Flans cough up tons of it, I can buy a ton of Spoons for him to throw for 15k damage a pop. Having an AoE image ninjutsu is going to be mighty helpful as well.
First up on the sixth wave...not just one perfect AI, THREE perfect AIs. There's also two Attacker and three Defender nodes providing support, but a single M-Cannon knocks all of them out for quite awhile and doesn't cause 3/5ths of the team to get a supercharged stop counter in the face.
The problem? They still have their revive everyone ability. When I say everyone though, I mean EVERYONE...including any perfect AIs that have been killed. That means you need to kill them all off at the same time or close enough that one attack finishes the job or you're probably gonna reach for that reset button when you find two dead perfect AIs are now back at full strength.
There's two ways to output damage that won't provoke multiple instances of ElectroMg. One is Edward salv'ing attack items like M-Cannons. The other is Rydia's summons. One shot of Neo Bahamut likely hits the damage cap on all the rampant AIs...then you see Laser counters come up. They're instant kills for the most part until the 3rd Neo Bahamut where the damage won't knock someone out unless they get hit by all three potential Laser counters.
Reviving people before the 3rd NB cast isn't too bad. Wait until you see the next salvo of Maser attacks, then pop a Life with one character, then have the next one to act throw a Megalixir to get everyone to full strength. If you have Rosa and/or Porom, you can sub the Life item out for a casting of Life 2.
After the perfect AI trio, there's a couple breather fights with a pair of Goddesses, then a pack of five Selene guards afterwards. The Goddess duo will be lucky to kill one person a turn combined while Edward can laugh and salve a Lunar Veil to protect everyone from the Selenes and their physical blows.
After that, we have the fourth fight and sole reason I ducked out to do some grinding to prepare. This fight has a trio of Fire Dragons and they do not mess around. Even with Adamant Armors, Dragon Breath can still do a good 2k or more damage to everyone. Multiply that by 3 and you can see how dire things can turn on a dime here.
The best thing I could do to end this was to have Edward salve some Globe199s to throw out as much damage as possible alongside some Neo Bahamuts and other strong AoE attack items like Anti Matters. Even then, things got a little closer to a party wipe then I'd like...but somehow turned out for the good because only a couple got knocked into their next attack pattern at this point, throwing their Dragon Breath turns out of sync. Once two of them fell, taking out the last one was much less stressful.
The last two fights are against a Crystal Dragon, then wrapping up with a trio of Ultima Busters. Just make sure you have image active on everyone for the former while being diligent on healing to recover from the frequent casting of Ultima from the latter.
Rewards for this wave are an Ultima, Illumina, Dragon Lance, Eclipse, Dragon Claw, Caladbolg, and Globe199.
Another wave beckons next time...and one of the fights has TWO Neo Bahamuts. I'm sure THAT's gonna be a bag of laughs, heh.
