The Fieschi Palace, located in the main square, now known as Piazza XXV Aprile, was built by the Fieschi family in the late 17th century, most likely in 1691, with the final layout of the square, right at the intersection of two main roads (the "dei Feudi Imperiali" road and the "Via del Sale"). The Renaissance and Baroque-style palace has a square plan and is two stories high, featuring an internal courtyard and a square watchtower on whose façade the Fieschi family crest is visible. The building served primarily administrative and merchandise control purposes, but at times it also served as the Fieschi family's summer residence.
