The building has a square plan, with four cylindrical towers at its four corners. Admiring the entire structure, one cannot help but notice the evident 19th-century renovations (including the towers), especially in the upper sections, overlooking the ancient structures. On the west-facing façade is the castle's main entrance, surmounted by a wall rising higher than the rest of the building. Observing this entrance, one can still see traces of the levers used to raise the drawbridge, now replaced by a masonry bridge spanning the moat surrounding the entire building. The moat, of course, no longer serves a defensive purpose (filled with water), but has been transformed into an elegant and austere garden. The castle was declared a national monument in the early 1900s, and thanks first to the Vochieri family and now to the current owners, its perfect preservation can be noted. Its architectural merits include a series of seamless loggias alternating with balconies overlooking windows, some accessible, others frescoed in trompe-l'oeil style, depicting window frames and curtains, in keeping with the 19th-century style. All of this can be admired on three of the castle's four sides, while the fourth, facing north, consists solely of a high bastion that connects the two towers and forms the fourth side of the quadrilateral.
